The cardiologists at Louisiana Heart Center are highly trained in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of cardiovascular diseases. When you come to Louisiana Heart Center for a cardiac consultation you can expect a thorough examination from a cardiologist who understands both the physical and emotional side of cardiac care. To ensure that you receive the highest level of care, please be prepared to provide our staff and physicians with the following information:

1. Past medical history. A copy of previous medical records from your primary care physician is helpful in giving your cardiologist a thorough understanding of your prior medical care, and will avoid duplicate testing.

2. Family medical history.

3. List of current medications (including vitamins, food supplements, etc.)

4. Allergies

5. Please write down any questions that you have to ensure that they are addressed.

Before you meet with the cardiologist, a nurse will review all of the above information with you and will perform an EKG (Electrocardiogram) which is a simple, painless test that records the heart's electrical activity. Your cardiologist will perform a complete exam of your heart and vascular system. The doctor will discuss his findings, and make you aware of his recommendations which may include medication for further treatment and/or testing. You can help your cardiologist by being honest and thorough when providing the above information in response to his questions. You can print and fill out your patient information forms ahead of time by clicking the "New Patient Information Packet” under Patient Info.
